Vision Statement

Music and performing arts are fundamental human activities which help to develop the individual’s need for self expression. Playing, making and listening to music and taking part in the performing arts are central to the development of the physical , emotional, intellectual and spiritual health of people of all ages. Music and the performing arts are therefore both an essential element of every child’s curriculum throughout school life and an important part of the social and cultural life of the wider community.

Brighton & Hove Music and Performing Arts aims to provide a wide range of high quality musical and performing arts educational opportunities from early years onwards, with access for all and aiming for the highest standards of achievements.

The service will achieve this via:

• Instrumental tuition in schools and the community
• Dance classes in the community
• Support for teachers in delivering a music and dance curriculum
• Performance opportunities
• Music and performing arts projects
• Providing opportunities for pre- and professional training
• Linking with other music and performing arts practitioners
