Pupil Progress
There is a link between the enjoyment gained from learning an instrument and the satisfaction felt when progress is made. The activities undertaken during lessons are designed to support this in a progressive and structured way. Expectations regarding practice at home are clearly communicated to all pupils.
Pupil progress reports are issued twice yearly and include an assessment based on the performance of a piece appropriate to the standard at which pupils are working. At secondary level students are given the opportunity to comment and reflect on their own progress.
We recognise and value the support that parents and carers can provide at all stages of learning. We encourage communication from parents/carers and to assist the learning of younger pupils we welcome attendance at the instrumental lesson where possible. Our instrumental teachers are always happy to discuss pupil progress and can be contacted either via the lesson or through Music, Arts and Study Support on 293524.
