Partnerships & Projects

Brighton Festival

Brighton Festival and Dome are two of the City's major arts projects. The Dome consists of three venues, a concert hall with a 2000 seat capacity, the multi-purpose Corn Exchange and a Studio Theatre. The Festival is a major international celebration of the Performing Arts across the town taking place over three weeks in May. The Brighton Festival and Dome Education Unit provides a variety of workshops and classes for all ages which link to the programmes of both the Festival and Dome. These can range from a scratch orchestra project for 100 local players working with the London Philharmonic Orchestra to a Master Class with Circus Oz or the National Theatre.

In addition the Education Unit runs series of workshops for young people in a variety of theatre and circus skills. The Brighton Dome Youth Theatre is well established and attracts talented young people from across the South East. The Dome is a regional host for the National Theatre's Shell Connection's theatre scheme for teenagers.

During the Festival the Education Unit programmes innovative european theatre for young people and runs a major four day festival of Children's Literature. Various outreach programmes are attached to these projects including Adopt an Author, a project pioneered in Brighton which subsequently took place throughout the United Kingdom.

The Brighton Dome and Festival Brochures give more information about specific opportunities for appreciation of and participation in the Arts.
